ABOUT DNIPRO NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF RAILWAY TRANSPORT
In Dnipropetrovsk, the Dnipropetrovsk Institute of Railway Engineers (DIIT) was founded on the basis of the Polytechnic and Faculty of Railway Engineers of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute. Established in the center of the metallurgical industry of Ukraine and a large railway junction, the Dnipropetrovsk Institute of Railway Engineers in a short time has deployed the training of qualified specialists. During the first five years, a school building, a dormitory, a canteen and a dormitory were built by the students, teachers, workers and employees. For 3-4 years a cozy institute town was built. At the time, 62 teachers, including 5 professors and 12 associate professors, were employed at the institute.

Dnipropetrovsk Institute of Railway Engineers opened postgraduate studies, organized by three faculties: civil, mechanical and electromechanical.

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

Dnipropetrovsk Institute of Railway Engineers has a rich history of training highly qualified specialists: engineers, machine builders, programmers, experts in logistics and economics, the operation of various types of transport and so on. Graduates receive two diplomas – the state sample and the diploma of the university of France.
Now this educational institution Dnipropetrovsk Institute of Railway Engineers provides Higher Education both for Ukrainian students and for boys and girls from other countries.
Dnipropetrovsk Institute of Railway Engineers is a member of international scientific programs, conferences (Germany, Iran, Poland, Russia, Turkey, France).
International cooperation is one of the most important activities of the Dnepropetrovsk National University of Railway Transport, and contributes to the solution of the main tasks of the transport higher educational institution: the preparation of highly qualified specialists, the development of scientific directions.

The educational process at the Faculty of Economics is aimed at the effective individual training of highly qualified specialists capable of solving today’s production and scientific tasks in economics, accounting, finance, exchange activity.

 The accounting system and accounting operations are considered to be the language of business. It provides all the users, from owners and managers of enterprises, shareholders, investors to public administration and control bodies with reliable, relevant, objective and informative data about the financial position and performance. This fact explains the high requirements for the training of accounting, auditing and tax accounting specialists at the Faculty of Accounting and Tax Management, established in 1959.

The faculty of Computer Engineering trains specialists in development and maintenance of software programs and technical means of computer and computer-aided systems, practical implementation of modern information technologies of general and target purpose for different branches of science and industry. The faculty of Sectoral engineering trains specialists of the OS «Bachelor» on specialty «Sectoral engineering». After graduation, Bachelor’s degree graduates receive a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in construction.

Studying in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering opens up a varied professional field in the engineering disciplines. The courses offered range from Nanotechnology to Microelectronics and Machine Technology, Energy Distribution or Electronic Communication Networks. Energy technology and its optimization, above all with regard to the conservation of resources and regenerative energies or modern drivetrain engineering are markets for electrical engineers.

The Faculty of railway transport locomotives and locomotive economy aim is to enhance understanding of the economics of rail transport demand and supply, rail operation and control, and the economic value of rail technical innovation and investment.

That decision to create the faculty of transport technology was aimed at unification and intensification of the processes of tuition and research and improvement of the efficiency of training engineering and scientific skilled specialists

 Hostels & Campus

 The polytechnic owns a number of hostels for the use of its students who wish to live on or near the grounds and facilities of the university. The capacity of the six combined hostels amounts to around 3,050, with Hostel No. 6 being the largest and catering for the greatest number of students. 

Our Dnepropetrovsk National University of Railway Transport provides housing for foreigners. The hostel is located in the city center, in an area with good infrastructure.

• The quality and size of the rooms differ. In rooms live from 2 to 4 people.
• The bathroom is shared and is divided into several rooms.
• The hostel will provide you with rooms fully furnished with all necessary furniture.
• Also in the hostel there are common kitchens, gyms, laundries and security.
• As for the purchase of food and other things, not far from the hostel there are several supermarkets as well as shopping centers.
• Also, nearby are the bus stop. The entrance to the hostel is based on student passes.
• A pass will be issued to the student upon arrival at the hostel.
• Visitors can stay at the hostel from 8:00 to 23:00.

 Walk along Dmytro Yavornytsky Avenue

Dmytro Yavornytsky Avenue is the most central and popular street in the city. It stretches for 3.1 miles (5 km). Its roots trace back to the 18th century when the avenue had the same name as the city – Ekaterinoslavky Avenue. Later it was renamed Karl Marx Avenue, and, in 2016 in accordance with decommunization in Ukraine, it became Dmytro Yavornytsky Avenue. The majority of the sightseeing spots of Dnipro are located on this street: Dmytro Yavornytsky National Historical Museum, Central Post Office and Dnipro National University.

Visit Menorah Centre

Since 2012, the Menorah Centre has welcomed visitors and dazed tourists. The complex constitutes one of the largest Jewish cultural and business hubs in the world. It has seven towers of different heights, the largest of which is 77 meters (252 feet), or 22 floors. It was constructed in the form of a seven-branched menorah, a symbol of Judaism. From the top of the Menorah Centre, marvel at the incredible panorama of the city and Dnipro River.

 See the Transfiguration Cathedral

The 18th century Transfiguration Cathedral in the historical heart of the city and has huge architectural and artistic value. The construction of the cathedral reflects the techniques and traditions of the Russian classical school. In 1787, Empress Catherine the Great herself laid the foundation stone. The façade is decorated with a mosaic of the Transfiguration of the Lord.

Enjoy the Lazar Globa Park

Lazar Globa Park is a green oasis in the so-called concrete jungle of Dnipro. Being a favourite place of locals, it offers a range of activities, from summer theatre and a children’s railway to roller coasters and historical attractions. There’s also a dolphinarium, where one can watch dolphins and fur seals. In the middle of December, in the eastern part of the park, the authorities usually install the main Christmas tree of the city, making the destination even more attractive.

Learn history at Dmytro Yavornytsky National Historical Museum

The National Historical Museum of Dnipro was founded in 1849. The development of the museum is primarily connected with the name of academic Dmitri Ivanovich Yavornytsky, who served as museum director for more than 30 years (1902-1933). Today the museum bears his name. It is a real treasury of historical and natural resources, monuments of the local land and world culture. There are also often theatrical night excursions with music and light effects, as well as thematic museum salons.

Marvel at the White Swan Fountain

The embankment of the city is one of the most romantic spots in Ukraine. The White Swan Fountain is even more marvellous. This original floating construction was installed in 2005 on the Dnipro River. The height of the water jet reaches 50 meters (164 feet). In the dark, the fountain is illuminated, and harmoniously blends into the scenery of the city.

Go shopping on Katerynoslavsky Boulevard

If you’re wondering where to go shopping in Dnipro, Katerynoslavsky Boulevard is the answer. This pedestrian zone, located in the very city centre, has united all the poshest restaurants, popular bars and coziest cafes. There are a lot of internationally famous shops, concept stores and boutiques here. The boulevard is especially beautiful at night, with the fountains, lights from shop windows and street lamps.
